Between transport and screens, the hours of sitting continue and the sports session takes second place. The doctor Dr Lange reminds us that, a reality which impacts silhouette and cardiovascular health.
Lack of time, fatigue, feeling of “not doing enough”: many give up before even putting on their sneakers. A method called snack exercise is essential, with the promise of burning more calories without spending an hour in the gym.
Snack exercise: mini 10-minute anti-sedentary sessions
In a video on Instagram, cited by Here, Dr Lange specifies that, and that it is necessary.
According to him, these mini-efforts improve strength, power, calorie expenditure and health. He adds that it strengthens whether you climb the stairs or do a few squats in front of your chair.
Weight loss: what the studies show
Spreading these efforts over the day increases the energy spent over the hours, useful when aiming to lose weight. A study in the journal compared “12-5-30” treadmill training to running, requiring everyone to burn the same number of calories.
This incline walking format – 30 minutes at 5 km/h with a 12% incline – took longer than running, but allowed for greater fat oxidation. The body used more lipids like , while running mainly required carbohydrates, for the same expenditure and around 7% more fat burned.
Snack exercise, weight loss and motivation
Beyond calories, the way you approach sport matters. A FLASHS survey for L’Orange Bleue, among 1,262 women, reveals that 72% go to the gym to improve their physical condition, compared to weight loss cited by 54% of respondents and 63% of those under 35.
Taking care of yourself, relaxing and relieving stress come next, with the gym becoming a moment where sport helps release the happiness hormone. In this context, snack exercise offers a flexible option: climbing the stairs, doing squats between two emails and, as Dr Lange reminds us,
