"My skin stays hydrated" : this Dr. Barbara Sturm cream with mountain flowers promises +32% hydration

We knew about luxury ski suits, a little less about face creams designed to take on the slopes. And yet, the idea is not that crazy. With temperatures starting to drop, our skin could use a little TLC. Especially when cheeks turn red after just a few minutes outside.

And it was Dr. Barbara Sturm who decided to get involved. The German specialist, who has become a benchmark in high-end skincare, has joined forces with Perfect Moment, famous for its particularly chic ski clothing. A rather unexpected meeting between two universes which, ultimately, have a lot to share.

From edelweiss to our bathroom

It’s probably the fanciest cream you could slip into your suitcase for Courchevel. Called Ski Cream by Dr. Barbara Sturm, this new product was designed to help the skin cope with negative temperatures. And for the occasion, the brand sought its inspiration directly from the Alps. We find in particular edelweiss, this small white flower which grows at altitude and whose antioxidant properties are appreciated in cosmetics. A reference to the mountains which does not stop at the packaging. The formula uses alpine plant extracts to help preserve the comfort of the skin.

Results that could reconcile our skin with the cold

And Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Ski cream doesn’t just focus on its pretty alpine universe. According to clinical results communicated by the brand, this cream would increase skin hydration by 32%. A rather attractive figure when you know that feeling of tight skin as soon as you step outside. But that’s not all. The announced data also shows a 12% improvement in the skin barrier and a 7.5% reduction in visible redness.

A little touch of luxury to face winter, even without going to the mountains

And good news, you don’t need to have a chalet in Megève to enjoy Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Ski cream. This cream is also very useful in a winter routine in the city. After all, our skin doesn’t really know the difference between the wind on the slopes and the wind that awaits us at the metro exit. Price-wise, you have to count on $85. A little luxury, certainly, but this collaboration with Perfect Moment has that extra originality that makes you want to discover it. The cream is available in a limited edition until the end of 2026, with an arrival announced at Bon Marché on November 16.

Why can heating make skin dry in winter?

Heating can make indoor air drier, which encourages the evaporation of water from the skin’s surface. This loss of water can accentuate feelings of tightness, particularly when the skin barrier is already weakened. To limit this discomfort, it is advisable to avoid overheating the rooms. Maintaining appropriate indoor humidity levels can also improve comfort. On the beauty side, we favor a gentle cleanser that does not strip the skin. A cream containing moisturizing agents and lipids can then help preserve hydration throughout the day.

What is the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin?

Dry skin is a skin type that naturally produces less sebum and often lacks protective lipids. She may experience regular feelings of discomfort, even when temperatures are mild. Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, lacks water in its surface layers. This situation can affect all skin types, including oily skin. It sometimes manifests itself as superficial fine lines which become more visible when hydration decreases. To choose your care, it is therefore important to distinguish the need for water from the need for nutrition, even if the two can be combined.

In what order should you apply your moisturizer and sun protection before going skiing?

In the morning, moisturizer is generally applied before sun protection. Simply distribute it onto clean skin, then give it a few moments to settle. We then apply broad-spectrum sun protection, ideally SPF 50+ for a day in the mountains. Altitude increases UV exposure and snow can reflect some of the radiation. It is important to renew sun protection throughout the day, especially after wiping your face. For the lips, a balm with sun protection completes this routine adapted to the slopes.
