Every October, pink packaging invades the shelves. But behind a pretty color, we especially like to know what is actually donated and to whom. Good news: some brands are being transparent and really transforming their limited editions into concrete support.
This year,
ghd, Blissim and Kusmi Tea are among the initiatives that catch our attention. Three completely different universes, but the same objective:
support research, support associations and remind people of the importance of breast cancer screening.
ghd Pink: the cult straightener goes pink and donates $10 per device
It’s difficult to talk about Pink October without thinking about ghd Pink. The styling brand has supported associations committed to the fight against breast cancer for more than twenty years. For its pink edition, several emblematic devices are adorned with a ultra-desirable powder pink: straighteners, hair dryers, curlers or even blowing brushes.
The principle is simple: $10 is donated to La Ligue contre le Cancer for each ghd Pink tool purchased.
Among them, the
ghd Gold Pink straightener probably remains one of the easiest to integrate into your routine. Its 26 mm plates allow
straighten, wave or work the ends, while the matching heat-resistant pouch completes the limited edition.
Kusmi Tea transforms the tea break into a gesture of solidarity
This is an initiative that changes beauty boxes a bit! For the
12th consecutive year, Kusmi Tea is partnering with Ruban Rose. Her
organic green tea with mint and natural rose flavor slips into a box designed by the French illustrator Limistic.
But the most important thing is behind the pretty packaging:
100% of the profits made from this edition are donated to the Ruban Rose association. Inside, we find a Sencha green tea associated with the freshness of mint and delicate notes of rose. The 100 g box is available at $18.50.
Blissim: a beauty box that also benefits Ruban Rose
Blissim also renews its commitment alongside
Pink Ribbon, with an operation that combines beauty discovery and support for the association. We particularly like the concept because it doesn’t just involve coloring a box pink. Blissim also uses old box packaging rather than producing new ones, in order to devote more resources to its solidarity action.
Inside, we find a selection of beauty products to discover during the month of October. Something to have fun while giving a little more meaning to your monthly box. The brand is also multiplying initiatives around Pink October, in particular the micro-donations and awareness-raising operations. A good reminder that commitment does not necessarily stop with the product you buy.
What is Pink October?
Pink October is an annual campaign dedicated to breast cancer awareness. It particularly emphasizes screening, prevention and research funding. Many associations organize events and collections during this period. Brands can also support these actions through donations linked to their sales.
How do you know if a Pink October product is truly supportive?
The easiest way is to check the amount or percentage actually donated, as well as the name of the beneficiary association. A serious brand generally specifies this information clearly. A simple pink color does not automatically mean that part of the price is donated to an association. The commitments of ghd and Kusmi Tea, for example, are detailed very precisely.
Which associations are the donations given to?
It depends on the brands. ghd supports The League Against Cancer, while Kusmi Tea and Blissim work with Ruban Rose. These associations participate in particular in funding research and awareness-raising actions around breast cancer. The amount donated varies depending on each transaction.
