Have you ever wondered what you would do if, in the middle of an evening on the other side of the world, everything changed in a fraction of a second? When the perfect setting suddenly becomes unrecognizable, and fear takes over?
The chilling testimony of Léna Situations, caught in a robbery in Los Angeles
Léna Situations thought she would experience a glamorous break in Los Angeles. But the trip turned into a shock when she found herself, with her partner Seb and friends, at the heart of an armed robbery in broad daylight. A surreal scene that the content creator recounted in a video published on November 9 on her secondary channel, in a testimony as raw as it is disturbing.
Léna Mahfouf, her real name, came to attend a Swarovski exhibition in the company of other personalities such as Adèle Castillon and Maxime Biaggi. After a few adventures, the group decides to treat themselves to brunch on the terrace. “It’s broad daylight at Urth Caffé in Melrose. It’s really boboland, it’s 12 bucks for a smoothie,” she says in her video. “You’re among the bohemian artists of Los Angeles, but you’re not into the hyper-luxury thing either.”
“Under the table, I tell myself it’s an attack”
The moment is suspended, the atmosphere light. Until a scream comes and changes everything. A customer screams: “Oh my god”. Léna turns her head and sees two hooded men, each armed with two revolvers. “We were really at the forefront of the terrace,” she explains.
The group reacts immediately. Lena instinctively shouts “On the ground!” and hides under the table with his loved ones. She then thinks she is experiencing a much more dramatic scene than a simple robbery. “Under the table, I tell myself it’s an attack. My brain connects to something that I already saw when I was younger on TV and something that we know a little more about (in France).”
A collective instinct seems to guide the group. “We all messed up,” she notes. “There was no panic,” adds the influencer. “As a result, we didn’t spill anything on the tables.” “We reacted hyper, hyper, hyper quickly but very calmly so as not to draw attention to ourselves.”
“Never felt so close to death”
The face-to-face meeting only lasts a few minutes. “3-4 minutes,” estimates Léna. The robbers flee, notably taking away the watch of a man threatened with a weapon. The police arrive shortly after. “Luckily no one was hurt, but I think this guy will remember it forever. I’ve been thinking about him for a week.”
If the event ended well, it left a deep mark. Léna confides that she has “never felt so close to death”. She also evokes carrying weapons in the United States and the shock of reliving these mental images, long after returning to France.
