Science has decided: not to drink coffee would multiply by 1.58 this serious risk for your health

What if your morning coffee was not only a pleasure but also a healthy ally? A team of Chinese researchers has just published a study that could make lovers of little black smile. Their conclusion is clear: two to three cups a day, it may be the best news that science could offer coffee drinkers.

Coffee, we know it for its comforting scent, its boost effect and its role as a sacred ritual upon waking. But this drink, often pointed out because of caffeine, has long suffered from an ambiguous reputation: tachycardia, insomnia, nervousness … However, well dosed, it hides unsuspected virtues, and not only for morale.

The study that changes the situation

Published in 2024 in BMC Public Health And relayed by Doctissimo, the work of Chinese researchers observed the link between coffee consumption and the level of sedentary lifestyle. Because staying seated more than six hours a day considerably increases the risk of serious illnesses: obesity, diabetes or even cardiovascular problems.

But here is the twist: in sedentary people, those who did not drink coffee presented 1.58 times more risk of death than those that consumed two to three cups daily. A figure that challenges, and which gives the cup of coffee at the center of the health debate.

A small gesture, a big effect?

The strength of coffee does not only come from caffeine, which stimulates concentration and vigilance. Its richness in antioxidants also helps the body to fight against aging and free radicals. Better still, it could compensate, in part at least, some bad habits of modern life.

Obviously, no one claims that coffee is a magic wand. Move, limit ultra-transformed products and rebalance your diet remains essential. But this study offers an unexpected argument for aficionados: their coffee break could well be a healthier habit than we thought.
