These ultra-transformed foods that even trap the diets
They are associated with cookies, prepared dishes or chocolate bars, but ultra-transformed foods are now also found in versions presented as “healthy”. The problem ? According to a new study published on August 4, 2025 in the journal Medicine natureeven integrated into a balanced diet, they considerably reduce the effectiveness of weight loss.
A direct impact on weight loss
The results are striking: in both cases, the participants lost weight, but those who followed the diet based on low -processed foods have lost an average twice as much. They also burned more harmful fats and better controlled their junk food.
The gap could become spectacular over time. As Samuel Dicken, clinical researcher at the University College London and co-author of the study, explains: “If we extend these results over a year, we expect to observe a weight loss of 13 % in men and 9 % in women according to the little-processed diet, but only a reduction in weight of 4 % in men and 5 % in women following the ultra-transformed diet.”
Why absolutely avoid them?
Even if this study only lasted eight weeks, its conclusions show how the choice of products has a direct effect on silhouette and health. For Chris Van Tulleken, also co -author, “the current global food system is the source of health problems related to food and obesity, especially due to the great availability of cheap and unhealthy foods”.
To limit the impact of ultra-transformed, it is better to favor simple and house alternatives. Some good reflexes to adopt:
-
Prefer them Flocons of gross oats with industrial oat bars
-
Build on Homemade prepared dishes rather than industrial versions
-
Integrate more than Fresh fruits and vegetables in its daily meals
-
Check them short ingredient lists and avoid additives
