What if thanks to this technology, you could change your nail polish color as many times as you want per day?

Choosing your nail polish sometimes means agreeing to regret your decision a few hours later. A different dress, an impromptu evening and this color that seemed perfect suddenly doesn’t fit at all. Until now, we had to make do… or start all over again.

A technology presented at CES 2026 in Las Vegas could seriously change the game.

iPolish turns fake nails into digital accessories

iPolish capsules look like classic false nails, but they work very differently. They use electrophoretic nanopolymers capable of reacting to an electric field, a principle reminiscent of electronic paper.

To change your look, you select a shade in the iPolish app, then place your nail in a small device called Magic Wand. During the CES presentation, the change took about five seconds per nail. Up to 400 colors were mentioned then, while the iPolish site now presents more than 300.

The most surprising? The capsules do not need an on-board battery to maintain their color. The intervention of the Magic Wand is necessary at the time of the change, then the nail keeps the chosen shade.

Change the color of your nails as often as your outfit

This is where this technology becomes interesting in everyday life. Do you wear red with an outfit in the morning and do you prefer black to go out in the evening? In theory, a few passes through the Magic Wand are enough.

There is still a constraint. The components are integrated directly into the capsules and these cannot be filed freely to modify their shape without risking damage. The color therefore becomes very easy to change, but not the silhouette of the nail.

Another nuance: these are indeed false nails. Natural regrowth, wear or loss of a capsule therefore requires its replacement. iPolish does not turn your natural nail into a miniature screen.

These color-changing nails are available in France

After the CES 2026 demonstrations, iPolish moved to a more concrete stage. The brand is now accepting pre-orders in several countries, including France.

Its site currently indicates that production capacities planned for August and September are exhausted and announces, for proposed pre-orders, shipping no later than October 31. During CES, several American media mentioned a starter kit at $95 and replacements at $6.50, prices likely to change with marketing.

The difference with varnishes that react to heat or light is therefore major: here, you decide the color. A gesture that curiously brings manicure closer to our digital habits: choose a shade, apply it in a few seconds, then change it as soon as you feel like it.
