Fashion budget at half mast, desire for new products intact: the dream target of the ultra-low cost giants. After Shein, Primark and Temu, it’s the turn of the group behind Zara to unveil its own very accessible brand, announced in France for 2026. A new banner that could shake up our shopping trips.
Its name is not yet familiar, but it is already a hit in Spain: Lefties. Initially a simple outlet for unsold Zara items, the brand has evolved into an independent ready-to-wear brand, focused on basics at knockdown prices for the whole family.
Lefties, Zara’s low-priced label arrives
Born in the early 2000s, Lefties has become the most accessible brand of the Inditex group, alongside Stradivarius, Bershka and Pull et Bear. It offers clothing, shoes and accessories for women, men and children, with collections that rotate very quickly.
On the wallet side, the brand is clearly placed below Zara: dresses from 9.90 euros, jeans between 12.99 and 20 euros, shirts around 15 euros. Levels close to a typical Shein order.
How Lefties wants to counter Shein, Primark and Temu
For Inditex, it is about regaining control over the purchases of younger people and those with small budgets, without damaging Zara’s image. Lefties plays the role of an ultra accessible showcase, where Zara can continue its move upmarket.
The brand also benefits from the strength of Inditex’s physical network, which still generates most of its turnover in stores. While France is preparing a so-called anti-fast-fashion law targeting the most prolific players in terms of volumes, a low-cost European brand may appear as an alternative.
Where and when Lefties arrives in France
After a first attempt between 2009 and 2012, with two stores quickly closed, Lefties is making a comeback. An e-commerce site dedicated to France is due to open in April 2026, before the inauguration of a first 4,000 square meter store in Essonne, then an address at Westfield Rosny 2.
The new stores are expected on the outskirts of large cities, in high-traffic commercial areas, in a model close to Primark. Enough to attract students, teenagers and families who want low prices, but prefer to try on and take their pieces rather than ordering online.
