Does your perfume disappear too quickly? This complexion product diverted by the pros makes it last longer

You spray your favorite perfume in the morning, and by midday it already seems to have disappeared. We sometimes blame the formula, or even our own skin, without really understanding what is happening. However, part of the answer is hidden in a very simple gesture. And this gesture starts in your makeup bag.

No need to buy a specialized fixative or change fragrances. Makeup artists and perfumers already divert a product from the complexion to create an invisible film on the skin, which slows the evaporation of notes. Before explaining how to adopt it in your home, let’s look at why a perfume fades so quickly.

Why does your perfume evaporate so quickly on the skin?

The hold depends first of all on the concentration. An eau de toilette or body mist contains less essence than an eau de parfum, which can remain perceptible for around eight hours if all conditions are met. But even the most concentrated formula weakens on poorly prepared skin.

Dry skin absorbs odorous molecules more quickly and then releases them without retaining them for long. Well-hydrated skin, on the contrary, provides a supple surface where scents adhere better. And then certain reflexes, like rubbing the wrists after spraying, break the most volatile notes.

The tip that changes everything: the makeup base

A makeup base or primer is normally used to smooth the skin and make the foundation last. Applied in small amounts to the areas to be perfumed, it creates a thin film, often slightly moisturizing, which binds the perfume molecules and slows their evaporation throughout the day.

The procedure is simple: on clean skin, place a dab of neutral, unscented base on the pulse points: wrists, neck, behind the ears, hollows of the elbows or neckline. Let it dry for a few seconds, then spray your perfume about fifteen centimeters away, without rubbing. This tip works amazing with body mists and cool waters, which are known to fade in a few hours.

Additional tips to make your perfume last longer

To amplify the effect, a few daily adjustments are enough. Moisturize the body with a neutral cream or oil, especially in winter or under air conditioning. Always aim for warm areas that diffuse better: neck, chest, inside of the wrists, hollows of the elbows and behind the knees.

You can also strengthen your wake without overdosing. One or two sprays on cotton or wool clothing prolong the odor, provided you test on a hidden area first. Finally, remember to keep the bottle closed, away from light and temperature variations.

How to prolong a perfume on dry skin?

First moisturize the area, apply a little primer, then perfume.

Which makeup base to choose with a perfume?

Prefer a neutral base, unscented and adapted to your skin.

Why avoid rubbing scented wrists?

Rubbing breaks up odorous molecules and makes the odor disappear more quickly.
