We have seen a number of anti-aging serums that promise to smooth wrinkles. This time Lancôme is trying to go a step further with a new range based on a word that we hear more and more in skincare: longevity.
THE
Absolue Longevity MD Intercept anti-aging serum from Lancôme is intended for skin on which the first signs of aging are starting to become visible. And rather than talking only about wrinkles, the brand is particularly interested in elasticity and cellular activity.
+52% elasticity for skin that appears less sagging
This is the most telling result. Lancôme reports +52% skin elasticity, result from an instrumental test carried out on 40 people. Concretely, it is particularly interesting when the skin begins to seem less toned, less plump and a little more wrinkled than before. The serum combines several already well-known active ingredients such as
niacinamide, peptides and Pro-Xylane, but its real novelty lies elsewhere.
An active ingredient from food supplements arrives in our care
Lancôme uses
Mitopure, a 98.5% pure form of urolithin A, originally derived from research into food supplements. The brand explains that they use it here to support the energy and function of skin cells. And the figure is quite impressive: Lancôme announces 3 million new superficial cells per day after 22 days, according to an instrumental test carried out on 31 people. We obviously keep in mind that cosmetics cannot go back in time. But the idea is rather to work on the changes that we actually see in the mirror: elasticity, firmness and general appearance of the skin.
The kind of serum you take out at the first sign of sagging
This Lancôme anti-aging serum costs over $100. We are therefore clearly on a premium treatment. At this price, its point is not to add “one more serum” to an already long routine. It corresponds more to someone who begins to notice that
the skin recovers more slowly, becomes more marked and gradually loses elasticity. We apply it before our cream, then we keep one essential thing in the morning: sun protection. Because even the most sophisticated anti-aging serum will struggle to compensate for daily UV exposure without protection.
What is skin elasticity?
Elasticity corresponds to the ability of the skin to regain its shape after being stretched or stressed. With age, the production and organization of certain support proteins changes and the skin may appear less toned. The face then sometimes seems less plump and certain folds remain more marked. Hydration, sun protection and appropriate care can help maintain a more supple appearance.
From what age should you use an anti-aging serum?
There is no compulsory age. We can start when we notice changes that really bother us, such as
loss of radiance, suppleness or the first fine lines. A 30 year old person does not necessarily have the same needs as someone of the same age. The most important thing therefore remains to choose your care according to your skin rather than according to your date of birth.
Can you use Lancôme serum every day?
Yes, it is designed to integrate into a regular routine. It is applied to clean skin before moisturizing cream. If the routine already contains several anti-aging active ingredients, there is no need to overlay everything at once: a simpler routine also allows you to better see what really works.
