They make you look tired even after a good night’s sleep, darken the eyes and sometimes resist all the concealers in the world. THE Blue circles are one of the most common complexes, and also one of the most misunderstood. Unlike brown circles linked to pigmentation, they are mainly due to poor blood circulation and very thin skin which reveals the vessels under the eyes. Result: a bluish or purplish halo, often accentuated by stress, cold, lack of sleep or screens.
The good news is that today there is targeted and effective solutions to visibly reduce them, provided that their origin is clearly understood. Specific eye contour treatments, draining gestures, key active ingredients, tools such as cold or light therapy… By adapting your routine and choosing the right reflexes, it is possible to
awaken the eyes, improve microcirculation and find a brighter, clearer and visibly less marked eye contour.
How do blue circles appear?
If the term dark circles is generally used to talk about circles visible under the eyes, there are in reality several types, each with its
specificities and its adapted solutions. In the case of blue rings, very widespread, they form
under the eye and reveal a blue-purple mark, even reddish, on the eye contour. This coloring is due to a accumulation of blood in an area where the skin is particularly thin. The bluish tint is explained by the fact that the blood is poorly oxygenated.
This type of dark circles may appear at any age, but some
factors favor their appearance. There skin tone plays an important role: on the fair skin, they are often more visible. THE lack of sleep, poor hydration,
too rich diet or even the stress can also accentuate their presence. Clearly, a Unbalanced lifestyle can largely contribute to the appearance of blue circles.
Blue circles: what solutions to reduce them?
If we can’t do much about the factors that come down to genetics, we can try to act on the other causes that can encourage the appearance of dark circles, in particular by adopting a few good gestures in your beauty routine.
Therefore, it is essential to remove makeup properly every day, including around the eyes, to eliminate impurities, cleanse the skin and restore its radiance. There is no specific product for this area, so you can use your usual cleansing milk, micellar water, cleansing oil or cleanser if the latter is suitable for removing eye makeup.
As with the rest of the face, the eye area also needs to be conscientiously hydrated with appropriate care, especially since this area is particularly fragile. In addition to hydration, certain active ingredients can also help stimulate blood circulation (poor blood circulation is one of the factors in the appearance of blue circles) such as caffeine, which is found in the Revitalift Filler eye contour serum from L’Oréal Paris (which plumps up thanks to hyaluronic acid, reduces dark circles and decongests thanks to the applicator tip made up of 3 steel balls). Little tip: for an immediate boost, leave the product in the fridge before using it.
Certain formulas also act on the bags that can accompany dark circles, such as CeraVe’s repairing eye contour cream, enriched with 3 ceramides and hyaluronic acid.
Rose water is also known as a grandmother’s remedy to reduce dark circles (but also hydrate the skin, restore radiance and act on the appearance of wrinkles by smoothing them). Simply pour a little onto a small cotton pad and apply to the eyes for a few minutes to remove dark circles and depuff the eyes. For better effectiveness, you can also leave the product cool before using it.
What makeup to camouflage your dark circles?
If none of this is effective, you can finally turn to makeup, especially concealer. But be careful to choose the right color! The ideal is to choose a concealer whose shade is closest to your natural skin tone (possibly, half a tone lighter). The Beauty Test community particularly recommends the Shape Tape Contour Concealer from Tarte and the Radiant Creamy Concealer from NARS, which is very popular for its good coverage.
To best act on blue dark circles, you can also turn to a corrector with an orange tint. A complementary color to blue, orange will rebalance the color of the area and hide the blue ring. Little tip: if you don’t have concealer on hand, an orange lipstick applied with a brush to the dark circle can help.
