We thought we’d pretty much seen it all when it came to electric toothbrushes. Oral-B iO models that detect pressure, Philips Sonicare connected to an application, timers that remind us that no, thirty seconds is not enough… There was only one option left: add a camera.
Since its launch, the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush has been all over social media. On TikTok, many test it on camera and it is especially its interdental jet which provokes the strongest reactions. Some love the concept, others remain more skeptical (and given its very premium price, we understand them). So, before taking out the credit card, we looked for three real reasons that could really justify its price.
An unexpected element
The real interest of this toothbrush lies here. Its camera analyzes up to 28 frames per second to identify spaces between teeth. It also relies on an algorithm which identifies the interdental spaces to better target the areas to be cleaned. And it’s precisely this famous jet that we see everywhere on TikTok. The first time, the result is quite surprising (you don’t really expect to see your toothbrush pull literally). In practice, this allows you to do brushing and interdental cleaning in a single gesture. The jet can spray up to 0.15 ml of liquid in just a tenth of a second.

An ultra efficient camera
You can have a high-end electric brush and still forget the same area. This is the problem that the CameraJet attempts to resolve with its sensors and the MyDyson™ application. It can display a map of the areas cleaned, report excessive pressure and give information on the technique used. The camera even allows you to look at certain areas of your mouth up close. It’s a bit strange, but the function is of interest when you want to understand where your brushing lacks precision. This is also what distinguishes it from several best-selling electric toothbrushes, which are already very effective but are more focused on the movement of the bristles, pressure and brushing time. Here, Dyson above all wants to make cleaning much more visible and precise.
One brush, several actions
The CameraJet allows you to use brushing and interdental jet together or separately, with three intensities: gentle, variable and deep cleaning. Its sonic motor performs 245 oscillations per second, with three intensities depending on the sensitivity of the teeth and gums. It also has an RFID head that warns when it needs to be changed, 10 days of battery life and a travel case. All this remains very gadgety if you are simply looking for a good electric brush. On the other hand, if you like connected devices, want to better monitor your brushing and especially integrate interdental cleaning without adding a step, it really starts to make sense.
How much does the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush cost?
The CameraJet clearly places itself in the category of premium devices. Its price is therefore much higher than that of a classic electric toothbrush. Before giving in, the point is above all to ask yourself if you will really use your camera, your connected monitoring and especially your interdental cleaning system.
